The Quality Engineer apprenticeship is designed for those who are seeking a career within a Quality / Quality Assurance department.
Job Summary
The apprentice will learn to work to strict safety and quality requirements, help to achieve daily production requirements in terms of quality and quantity, optimising efficiency and maintaining operational excellence.
To provide Quality Engineering and systems support for Operations and Quality/Technical departments by ensuring that products and processes are maintained in line with business and customer requirements. Has the ability to respond to the needs of the business and embrace change. Heavily involved in Teamwork and Continuous Improvement.
The key objectives of the role will be covered in the training both on site and via the Chesterfield College / Derby College training centre.
Key Objectives
- Work in a safe and responsible manner. (For own and other people’s safety).
- Comply with statutory, Quality and Organisational and Health and Safety regulations whilst carrying out manufacturing techniques.
- Inspection of components using hand measuring equipment and CMM.
- Preparing Documentation packages for submission to the client such as inspection reports, FAIR’s, PPAP’s, Material Certification and associated Quality documents.
- Producing Internal and Supplier NCR’s where required.
- Daily management of the non-conformance system for internal, external and suppliers.
- Carrying out monthly audits against the QMS.
- Management of the calibration system for all measuring equipment.
- Sign off relevant sections of Route Card on completion of inspection operation.
- Preparing Monthly Quality information for management team.
- Ensure manufactured products are of an acceptable standard and within allowed tolerances.
- Assist with keeping evidence to support the quality assurance is up to date, available and in line with requirements.
- Understand quality procedures to ensure that the company is compliant
- Ensure all check sheets have been completed.
- Taking samples to carry out necessary tests in order to demonstrate product compliance.
- Carry out dimensional checks on both standard and bespoke products, ensuring evidence is collated and analysed to ensure product conformity.
- Adhere to Company practices and procedures
- Develop sound working relationships with all personnel and departments of the Company

Education
Essential
A minimum of five GCSEs at Grade 5 to 9, including mathematics, English and a science, technology or engineering-related subject.
