Position Title: Senior Department Administrator

Department of Mathematics

College of Engineering, Design and Physical Sciences

Vacancy Ref: 11498

Salary: £32,995 to £35,490 inclusive of London Weighting with potential to progress to £37,488 per annum inclusive of London Weighting.

Hours: Full-time (Job Sharers considered)

Contract Type: Permanent

The College of Engineering, Design and Physical Sciences is seeking to appoint a Senior Department Administrator within the Department of Mathematics. This is an interesting and wide-ranging position that works closely with the Head or Heads of Department in providing excellent administrative support and proactively responding to daily enquiries from members of academic and administrative staff across the university, both by email and in person.

The successful candidate will act as the focal point of the department, provide administrative and secretarial support to the Head or Heads of Department and their delegates, organise and coordinate departmental events, prepare reports, take minutes of meetings, have overview of the budget, organise and monitor departmental level purchases, and perform other reasonable duties as required on an ad hoc basis. They will also be very pro-active, able to work unsupervised, show initiative & diplomacy, have excellent diary management skills with good attention to detail, and must have experience of a similar administrative role.
