Applications Support Engineer - Electronics

About The Role
As an Applications Support Engineer, you will be responsible for:
- Operating from my clients’ southern offices.
- Handling emails and calls of a technical nature that the customer service team can’t answer.
- Providing technical input to meetings and supporting major organisations within the military, avionics, high-end industrial, medical, and telecommunications applications to name a few. (70% of hardware projects are typically power supply related)
- Ensuring prompt response to customer’s inquiries.
- Attending customer visits alongside the Design Engineering team (once per quarter) within the UK & Europe (Italy, France, Germany, Spain, Scandinavia, Denmark, Netherlands, Austria, Switzerland) – Expenses paid.
- Working with their R&D departments to understand their current electronic designs and challenges.
- Understanding the client’s circuitry (75% analogue / 25% digital) and specifying suitable components that meet their application challenges.
About You
To be considered for this fantastic opportunity, you MUST be based in Reading, Newbury, Basingstoke, Farnborough, Bracknell or surrounding area and hold qualifications in Electronic or Electrical Engineering. (HNC, HND, BTEC or Degree level)
You should have an understanding of component-level design, PCB design and be comfortable working in/with R&D to support with component selection.
Past experience within an Applications Support / Applications Engineering role is preferred, be it with a distributor or manufacturer.
You could be in a customer-facing role currently; offering electronic solutions to their needs/checking their electronic designs or alternatively, you could be working in-house for a technology manufacturer or even a contract manufacturer doing circuit design / PCB design.
It is essential you possess good communication skills and enjoy supporting customers.
