About Us
We are a flexible workspace and cafe combining all the services and functionality of an office with the flexibility demanded by hybrid working. You will be joining HomeWork in an exciting period of business growth; we have expanded from 1 site to 4 within 3 years, and have further expansion in the pipeline. Currently, we are located on high streets in residential areas of South West London.
We have recently launched Sam’s Wine Bar in our existing Cafe at HomeWork Southfields. At 5:30pm the cafe will transform from a working environment serving specialty coffee to a cozy, local wine bar, targeting the local community, commuters and members of our workspace. Sam’s specialises in English wines, hosting events for tasting and networking.
Responsibilities:
Bartending / Cafe
- Consistently providing excellent speciality coffee and wine service that meets HomeWork’s standards
- Demonstrating a strong knowledge of the wines we sell, their origin, how they’re produced and their tasting notes
- Demonstrating a strong knowledge of the different brewing methods used for making coffee at home in order to upsell retail coffee and educate the customer
- Following standard day procedures to clean and maintain the café equipment; keeping the café clean, tidy and presentable at all times by cleaning tables, and washing glasses, utensils, and equipment
- Adhering strictly to health and safety, food safety, and alcohol licensing procedures
- Observe proper serving etiquette and techniques
- Organise the bar to streamline drink preparation and service
- Execute opening and closing procedures as directed
Customer Service:
- Assist guests in selecting beverages by presenting menu, making recommendations, identifying appropriate wines and answering questions
- Place orders using POS system
- Serve the needs of multiple guests at the same time
- Control flow of service to guests and monitor guests’ alcohol consumption
- Address guest concerns promptly, politely and positively
- Contribute to wine bar growth by up-selling and creating goodwill with guests
Requirements:
- At least 18 years old.
- Able to work Saturdays and evenings (until 9:30pm)
- Proven experience in cafe, hospitality, bartending or customer service roles
You will be the great fit for this role if you are/have:
- Knowledge of wine is desirable but not essential
- Knowledge of coffee is desirable but not essential
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong networking and relationship-building abilities
- Passionate about providing excellent customer service and experiences
- Well organised, initiative and have excellent time management skills
- A great team player, willing to speak up and help shape team decisions
- Have a level of physical stamina with a willingness to be up and about and on your feet for some hours at a time
- Familiarity with start-up culture, or the entrepreneurial ecosystem is desirable
