We Require:
Tezlom have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Registered Practice Nurse to join the team of a well established GP located in Harborne area of Birmingham .You will be joining a fantastic team who truly care about making a difference to the lives' of the service users in the practice .
Experience in general practice is essential
Job Summary:
- To care for Practice patients, including the provision of treatment, preventative care, screening, immunisations and patient education.
- At all times demonstrating a working knowledge of the conduct and standards required of a Nurse, as required by the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
Job Responsibilities:
- Providing assessment, screening and treatment services and health education advice
- Following agreed protocols, provide general practice nursing treatments to patients alongside other clinical colleagues, within skill set and competency.
- Treatments may include (not exhaustive): Dietary advice, blood pressure checks, urinalysis, dressings, ECG, phlebotomy, routine injections, contraception, minor injuries, routine immunisations and vaccinations, removal of sutures / clips, baby immunisations, assisting with the fitting of IUCD / IUS, first registration checks, etc.
- Organise and coordinate the provision of nursing services for the practice to include the delegation of duties to other members of the practice nurse team as appropriate
- Provide general and specific health screenings and advice to practice patients (within agreed protocols) with referral to other clinicians as necessary.
- Complete chronic health condition clinics (Diabetic, COPD, Asthma, Heart, Kidney and Liver disease, etc.) including providing testing, diagnostic, health advice and management advice of such conditions. Pathological specimens and investigatory procedures
- Undertake the collection, storage and despatch of pathological specimens including intravenous blood samples, swabs, smears etc., and ensure the cleanliness of any equipment so used.
- Perform any investigatory procedures requested by other clinicians within scope of role.
Administrative and professional responsibilities
- Participate in the administrative and professional responsibilities of the Practice team.
- Ensure accurate notes of all consultations and treatments are recorded in the patients’ notes on the clinical computer system as appropriate.
- Ensure accurate completion of all necessary documentation associated with patient health care and registration with the Practice.
- Ensure collection and maintenance of statistical information required for regular and ad hoc reports.
- Assist in the formulation of Practice philosophy, strategy and policy and develop appropriate protocols. Student/staff education / induction / training
- Participate in the education, induction and training of students / new staff where agreed, within scope of role. Liaison
- Maintain effective liaison with other agencies and staff concerned with patient care and with all other disciplines within the Practice, with appropriate regard to confidentiality. Confidentiality:
- Conduct self in a manner in keeping with practice Confidentiality policy.
- Demonstrate understanding that information relating to patients, carers, colleagues, other healthcare workers or the business of the Practice may only be divulged to authorised persons in accordance with legislation and ensuring the protection of personal and sensitive data Safeguarding Comply with the practice Safeguarding Policy by:
- Addressing any safeguarding concerns in line with practice policy
- Undertaking level 3 safeguarding training at agreed intervals
- Participate in practice safeguarding meetings
- Conduct self in a manner which shows a commitment to keeping children and vulnerable adults safe
Health & Safety:
- Assist in promoting and maintaining their own and others’ health, safety and security as defined in the Practice Health & Safety Policy, to include:
- Using personal security systems within the workplace according to Practice guidelines Identifying the risks involved in work activities and undertaking such activities in a way that manages those risks
- Making effective use of training to update knowledge and skills
- Using appropriate infection control procedures, maintaining work areas in a tidy and safe way and free from hazards

The post-holder will:
- Apply Practice policies, standards and guidance, demonstrating an understanding of how standards and guidelines affect own work
- Participate in audit where appropriate
- Support the practice to achieve contractual requirements, such as Local Improvement Schemes, QOF, etc.
- Support the practice to develop services / patient offer
- Work in a manner which demonstrates an understanding of legal requirements / obligations related to nursing in general practice
Who were looking for:
· You must have a genuine passion for taking care of people and making a real difference.
· We are looking for someone who has a valid NMC pin and nurse qualification.
· You must have at least one year's experience as a registered nurse, ideally in a nursing clinical setting .
