About the Role
The Client Service Cashier and Administrator will report to Client Service Manager to assist with the delivery of the most efficient and enhanced sales experience for Bonhams clients. The Client Service Cashier and Administrator will support the cashiers desk at both Knightsbridge and New Bond Street handling payments, collections, end of day banking as well as coordinating with shippers, ensuring client satisfaction and that Bonhams are operating in an organised and compliant manner. This is a full time, entry-level position.
They will support the Post-sale Manager and Heads of Cashiers as well as the wider Client Service team with communicating effectively & efficiently between specialist, credit control, compliance, and operation departments. They will provide advice and support to clients and internal teams where required, regarding payments, stock control, shipping, VAT and compliance.
The Client Service Cashier and Administrator will play an integral role in delivering the highest level of service to our clients throughout their experience in buying and selling at Bonhams.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
In your role as Client Services Cashier and Administrator, you will:
- Cover cashier’s desk, taking payments on credit/debit cards, cheques, and cash, recording payments on the company system and ensuring end-of day banking is performed accurately.
- Answer client calls and emails that come into the Client Services shared inbox in an efficient and professional manner, specifically focusing on the post-sale inbox.
- Work closely with specialist departments, acting as a bridge between clients and specialist departments, for Bonhams auctions, managing a high volume of bidder requests by phone, in person and via email, ensuring the post-sale client experience is seamless.
- Be the point of contact for client post-sale enquiries, from processing invoices to assisting with shipping arrangements, liaising with third party shippers as well as offsite storage locations.
- Liaise with the Accounts, Compliance, IT, and specialist teams, providing efficient problem solving for any issues that may arise, always ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Cover the reception and registration desk if required, assisting clients with walk-in valuations, registration, and catalogue enquiries.
- Be the main point of contact for Bonhams’ recommended shippers, to guarantee smooth collection at Knigthsbridge and New Bond Street.
- Champion clients’ feedback on post-sale experience and escalate to the Post-sale manager where appropriate.
- Be an expert on Online Only sales, handling pre- and post-sale administration in tandem with the specialist departments and the wider Client Service team.
- Maintain accurate and updated client accounts through Bonhams’ CRM system.
- Ensure the best presentation of public reception areas, keeping meeting rooms tidy and organised, whilst ensuring all equipment is adequately maintained.
- Safeguard the security and confidentiality of information and complying with the Data Protection Act and any other company policies.
- Prevent, and deal with customer complaints, and escalate these to the manager, when appropriate.
- Be flexible to work for evening events, and weekend viewings when required, including assisting with cashiering duties on offsite sales.
- Perform any ad-hoc duties or deliver projects assigned by your manager.
- Work flexibly between Knightsbridge and New Bond Street.
