Looking for a role in acute medicine?
Medical Assessment Unit (MAU) is a 34 bed unit; The MAU team work closely with the Emergency Department as well as community GP’s to treat a variety of patient’s in a fast paced environment. You will be required to take charge and coordinate the flow of patients throughout the unit and further into the hospital some days and others remaining confident in your clinical skills of managing an acute patient caseload.
An opportunity has arisen for a band 6 nurse vacancy on the MAU in the RUH Bath. Are you a Staff Nurse looking for an opportunity to develop or are you an existing band 6 looking for a new and exciting challenge?
We are looking for someone to build our senior team of nurses with a motivated individual who is ready for a challenge. We endeavour to provide our patients with a high standard of patient care and require someone with excellent clinical and communication skills along with strong leadership qualities. Successful applicants would act as a role model for the team and provide support to both senior and junior members of staff whilst sharing knowledge and experience to help develop others.
You will be required to work a variety of shifts and flexibility is required.
Be accountable for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care within the framework of team nursing incorporating the Named Nurse initiative.
To ensure patient’s discharge arrangements are co-ordinated in accordance with RUH Discharge Policy, ensuring involvement of other agencies where necessary.
To promote a patient focused approach to care in collaboration with carers and relevant health care professionals.
To educate patients and their carers as required where a need has been identified.
To provide information which enables patients to make choices about adopting a healthier lifestyle.
To ensure that all clinical documentation (including integrated care pathways) is completed correctly by members of the nursing team.
To maintain a safe ward environment.
To assist in establishing and monitoring protocols/pathways.
To promote and maintain effective communication within the unit and the trust.
To ensure patient confidentiality.
To supervise junior staff in the delivery of care through effective monitoring, mentoring, clinical supervision and reflective practice.
To liaise with specialist nurses and teams within the trust to ensure effective communication and transfer of care e.g. REACT.
To deliver nursing care as appropriate including the administration of IV antibiotics, venepuncture and cannulation as required.
To perform consistent, safe practice, integrating theory and practice.
