Job Description

An exciting new role in the Trust to help develop the strategy and manage the provision of phlebotomy and point of care testing (POCT) services across Oxford Health NHS FT. This is a great opportunity for someone who has extensive knowledge and current active experience in managing Phlebotomy and POCT services.

In collaboration with, and as directed by the Clinical Lead for Pathology, POCT and Phlebotomy Services, you will support the transformation and delivery of governance, training, implementation of innovation such as IT middleware solutions, evaluation and implementation of novel POCT technologies, and development of a new team that functions to support the Trust-wide strategy of phlebotomy and POCT service delivery.

The post holder will be responsible for supporting the development and implementation of service governance and trust-wide policies of phlebotomy and POCT. This will include, but not limited to, the development and implementation of a robust quality management system that addresses training and competency, risk assessments, SOPs & Policies, audits, Quality assessments (IQC/EQA), asset registers, using the Trust incident reporting system to develop trend analysis reports, and attendance of meetings/committees. The post holder will be responsible for the day-to-day operational management of Phlebotomy and POCT services and be the first point of contact. These services are provided Trust-wide across Hospital inpatient, Outpatient, and Community services. This role also involves clinical duties, i.e., taking patients’ blood, undertaking point of care testing.

The role will be based at the Warneford Hospital, but the post holder will be required to travel and work from all Trust sites as and when required. This will involve working from anyone of the Trust clinical sites and being based there for a period of time that it takes to establish phlebotomy and POCT clinical services. Therefore, access to transport is vital.

Within this role, you will be part of a newly formed team in the Trust, working closely with all sectors to include community bases, hospitals, clinics and teams who provide healthcare at people’s homes.
