Job Description
The Paediatric Occupational Therapy service offers a high quality service to all eligible children aged from birth to school leaving age who live or attend school in Camden or who are registered with a Camden GP. The service covers more than 50 primary and secondary schools, special schools and units, nurseries and children’s centres as well as specialist services to Camden Mosaic (CDT). The caseload is varied and there is much opportunity to develop specialist skills in the areas of ASD, SI and NDT as well as the provision of special equipment and assistive technology. The paediatric OT service is integrated with Social Care OT and there is much joint working and collaboration with health OTs routinely taking responsibility for equipment in the home. This post holder will need to demonstrate knowledge of paediatric OT clinical practice and previous experience as an OT student in paediatrics is desirable although not essential. The post holder should be able to assess the needs of a wide range of service users between the ages of 1 and 16 years in both the home and school environment.
A vacancy has arisen for a Band 5 Occupational Therapists with some previous experience in paediatrics either as a student or band 5 required to join our large community based paediatric team.
The post involves working with preschool and school aged children in a variety of community settings including the following locations; special schools and units, mainstream schools, nurseries, and in the child’s own home in the London Borough of Camden. There is the opportunity to rotate within the specialist areas of the paediatric OT team and there may also be opportunity for some social care work.
Some knowledge of the assessment and treatment of children with Cerebral Palsy, Developmental co-ordination Disorder (DCD), ASD and perceptual and handwriting problems is essential. You will be working alongside a large team of Paediatric Occupational Therapists and there is a strong commitment to supervision, continuing education and professional development.
