Job Description
We have an opportunity for an enthusiastic trainee dental nurse to join our team, initially on a 4 day/32 hour per week basis. To be considered, you will either be already enrolled on a self-funded approved course of study towards the National Diploma in Dental Nursing or be willing to enrol on a course. If you are not already on a course of study, we will assist you in finding a suitable course to fit in with your work pattern.
No previous dental nursing experience is needed and, for the right candidate, this is a great opportunity to gain an internationally recognised qualification and take the first step on a successful career within the dental world.
About you:
To be considered for this opportunity, you will need to meet all of the following criteria:
- Have the right to work in the UK (evidenced by a UK passport/ birth certificate, an EU passport & registration under the EU Settlement Scheme or other passport with appropriate UK work visas).
- Be aged 18 or over (this is a requirement for enrolment on dental nursing courses)
- Be fluent in English with good written and verbal communication skills
- Either already be registered on a self-funded course of study towards the National Diploma in Dental Nursing or be prepared to register on such a course.
- Have an outgoing personality
- Work well as a member of a team while taking the initiative to undertake routine & other tasks without being asked.
About us:
AllClear is a fully private practice established in 2008 in Central Croydon and, since then, has built an excellent reputation for the quality of its care and customer service amongst the many thousands of patients treated over the past 15 years.
We open six full days per week (including Saturdays) and close only on Sundays and Bank Holidays. Normal practice hours are 9:00 to 5:30.
About the role:
As a dental nurse, your core duties will be to assist the dentist in a wide range of treatments. This includes, but is not restricted to:
- Providing chairside assistance during treatment
- Cleaning between patients
- Decontamination of instruments
- Entering treatment data etc. into the computerised practice management system
- Assisting patients and putting them at ease prior to treatment.
- Acting as a point of liaison between the clinicians and reception.
Full practical training will be given to you in all of these areas and you will also be given basic reception training to enable you to provide additional support during periods of colleague absence.

To work as a trainee dental nurse in the United Kingdom, you must be studying on an approved dental nursing course. These courses are typically structured to enable remote learning with online course materials and webinars etc. If you are not already registered on a suitable course, we will assist you to find one that fits around your work pattern.
Pay
Starting salary will depend on your age:
· Age 18 or 19: £7.50 per hour
· Age 20 & above: £10.50 per hour
Your salary will be reviewed as your experience and competence grows and on successful completion of your training, you can expect to be paid the market rate for dental nurses with your level of experience.
Career prospects
Qualifying as a dental nurse can just be your first step on the career ladder. You can opt to remain in general dentistry or undergo additional training to assist in one of the dental specialism such as orthodontics or oral surgery. As an experienced nurse, you could also decide to train as a hygienist/therapist to qualify you to directly treat patients and significantly increase your earning potential in the process.
