Little Hill Pharmacy is an Independent Pharmacy with strong support from its local community. We are excited to announce that we are now looking for an experienced Pharmacy Dispenser to join our team.
Job Summary
- Monday to Friday 9-1pm and 2-6pm (40 hours a week), with the flexibility for some Saturdays 9-12pm, if required
- Permanent employment.
- To work alongside the Pharmacist, another Dispenser and over the counter staff to ensure safe, accurate and timely supply of prescribed medication to patients.
- To provide over the counter medicines-related and healthy lifestyle advice to patients as well as assisting in the smooth operation of the pharmacy.
- To possibly be trained as (or open to work towards) a Healthy Living Champion for the Pharmacy and ensure the Health Promotion Zone is updated every month/when required according to Public Health guidelines.
Essential Criteria:
- A GPhC approved dispensing course/pharmacy Assistant Course equivalent to NVQ/QCF Level 2 qualification
- Minimum one years experience working within a Pharmacy environment and multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to use Proscript proficiently as the patient medical records system.
- Customer service and strong communication skills in the English language.
- Able to deal with confidential information and follow set processes.
- Able to problem solve efficiently and work at an acceptable pace within the Pharmacy, whilst maintaining accuracy.
- Team player.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure smooth running of dispensary.
- Dispensing pharmaceutical products including selecting and labelling in accordance with a prescription by following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and complying with all legal requirements.
- To accurately maintain Patient Medication Records (PMR) to ensure patient safety and in accordance with data protection requirements.
- Ordering and restocking of the dispensary and ensure maintenance of reasonable stock levels.
- Have knowledge of the Drug Tariff and official resources such as PSNC website.
- To receive, load, unload and enter stock from wholesales and manufacturers.
- Dealing with queries from patients and solving it in a timely manner.
- To respond to symptoms described by customers and using own knowledge and judgement within your own competence.
- To select and recommend suitable products and provide advice on their correct use.
- To be able to accurately make dossette boxes for patients and ensure it is ordered in a timely manner.
- To assist with the engagement of patients onto advanced services such as, NMS and flu vaccinations.
- Assisting in initiating and/or providing any new or existing services the Pharmacy delivers.
- Ability to use Pharmoutcomes and knowledge of local services.
- To communicate with wholesalers when ordering special medication when required.
- To assist in providing pharmaceutical care to patients by carrying out reasonable duties as determined by needs of the business including completing paperwork (hardcopy or online).
- Assist with sending and claiming prescriptions on a daily basis as well as the end of the month to NHSBSA.
- To refer or report to the Pharmacy Manager/Responsible Pharmacist when appropriate.
- Ensuring personal development and training is kept up to date.

Required experience: NVQ/QCF Level 2 equivalent qualification in Pharmacy assistant/dispensary Course. Pharmacy Dispenser: 1 year minimum preferred.
