- Governance and medicines safety
To support the relevant Medicines Committees. This may include preparing agendas, minutes and action summaries and overseeing the implementation of actions determined by the committee. To actively participate in the meeting representing Governance, Quality, Risks, and Safety issues
To be responsible for ensuring that risk assessments for the implementation of the Medicines Management and Medicines Safety topics are prepared, co-ordinated and undertaken. This will include being responsible for the development and maintenance of the Medicines Safety risk register
To provide information to all members of Trust staff by entry into the weekly pharmacy newsletter, monthly Medicines Safety Updates and Trust briefing as appropriate.
To assist and deliver any relevant educational programme/ events relating to Medicines Safety and Medicines optimisation within or external to Pharmacy
To be responsible for investigating and analysing reported incidents that relate to Medicines Safety and Medicines Management processes, , liaising with the Chief Technician Pharmacy Governance and also the Pharmacy Governance lead and Medicines Safety Lead, to identify solutions to reduce risks. This will include providing regular reports on current trends and the changes in practices that have been identified to reduce risk
To be a member of the senior technical management team and be involved in identifying, planning and implementing the strategic development of the pharmacy technical clinical and patient support services at NUH
To undertake and support Medicines quality improvement and assurance audits
To undertake and support relevant Medicines Optimisation and Medicines Safety and project work
To support in the analysis of prescribing and administration data available in software such as EPMA, Qliksense
To take line management responsibility for designated staff, this is to include carrying out:
Personal development reviews, including objective setting and KSF reviews
Sickness absence reviews
Performance management
Recruitment and selection
To undertake a regular operational commitment in order to maintain competencies and demonstrate fitness to practice as a registered pharmacy technician. This is to include dispensing (including controlled drugs and cytotoxics), counselling patients on their medication, collecting prescription fees and shop sales payments, accuracy checking (including controlled drugs) and utilisation of the pharmacy computer system
To take full part in the 7 day shifted rota and bank holidays duties. This post-holder will be required to provide dispensary cover on weekends (half-day both weekend days) approximately once every four to five weekends – this may vary with staffing levels. For each weekend worked, a full-day will be recompensed in either the week before or after the weekend cover.
To undertake any other duties relevant to the grade as specified by the Chief Pharmacist
