NUH is a Major Trauma Centre covering the East Midlands. Our busy Emergency Department is one of the largest in Europe. We see and treat approximately 170,000 patients per year and up to 600 patients per day, with up to a quarter of these patients being children. The Children and Young Person's Emergency Department (CYPED) works closely with the Adult Emergency Department and the Children’s Hospital.
We have recently completed an expansion of our CYPED. The works include a designated paediatric resus, CAMHS, a mental health space and specifically designed treatment areas for the patients we see. Making it a really exciting time to come and join our team.
CYPED are looking to appoint a substantive Band 7 charge nurse, this will be a full internal rotation post covering days, nights, weekends and public holidays.
Main duties of the job

This exciting role requires a high level of clinical expertise, along with the ability to manage a complex department alongside the paediatric nursing and clinical leadership team, negotiating flow into the Children Hospital.
Demanding and challenging, this role will engage all of your existing skills and build on them. It will provide the opportunity to become involved in complex process change and require high levels of staff engagement. The senior nursing team not only drives and delivers patient care in a challenging environment but is looking for a dynamic individual to maximise the consistency and effectiveness of the service provided in the CYPED.
Working for our organisation
Outside of clinical hours, you will also be responsible for the care and management of the nursing team and the ability to drive standards of patient care, not only on a daily basis but to ensure long term strategies are in place.
You will be a Registered Nurse with substantial post registration experience in an acute paediatric setting (Appropriate ward level experience with transferrable skills will be considered). Or a registered nurse with significant experience in a paediatric or shared adult/paediatric emergency department.

Salary: The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.
