Clinical Psychologist in Paediatric Haemoglobinopathy
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a 0.4 FTE Band 8a clinical psychology position in Paediatric Haemoglobinopathy (sickle cell disease and thalassaemia). The post holder will provide a clinical psychology service for children with sickle cell disease and thalassaemia in the East Midlands region. You will work alongside a Consultant Clinical Psychologist and an 8b Clinical Psychologist working in Haematological services within NUH
This role could be combined very effectively with our 0.5 FTE 8a Clinical Psychologist in Adult Haemoglobinopathy which is being advertised at the same time to give a lifespan service post. This post will involve providing detailed cognitive assessments and psychological therapy, working as part of the multi-disciplinary team across clinics in Nottingham and Derby and supporting the MDT team within clinic to manage the psycho-social factors related to sickle cell disease and thalassaemia. We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Clinical Psychologist who is interested in expanding their experience in working with children with health problems and with previous experience of and/or a strong interest in the neuropsychological assessment of children.
It is essential that the post-holder has a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and to be HCPC registered by the time of commencing in post. The post holder will be employed by Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust and will usually be based at the QMC Hospital and Derby Hospital but will be required to work at both the City and QMC Campuses.

The successful applicant will be welcomed to the Department of Clinical Psychology & Neuropsychology within the trust. Currently we are a rapidly expanding service with over 30 Clinical Psychologists working in the department across a number of medical inpatient and outpatient services within the Trust .We have excellent links with the University of Nottingham and regional Clinical Psychology Doctorate Courses.
Appropriate clinical supervision will be provided by clinical psychologists working in the child neuropsychology service and clinical psychology haematology services.
There is lots of scope for career development: from CPD and developing further skills in the specialty and supporting service development and innovation, to the chance to contribute to research, or policy work in psychological care for people with Sickle Cell & Thalassemia.

Salary: The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.
