We have a fantastic secondment opportunity to the end of March 2024 for a Band 7 clinical charge nurse in the Emergency Department

NUH is a Major Trauma Centre covering the East Midlands. It is the home of the new series of 24 hours in A&E. Our busy Emergency Department is one of the largest in Europe. We see and treat approximately 170,000 patients per year and up to 700 patients per day.

We are looking for a 7 clinical Charge Nurse/Sister to work within the Emergency Department . This exciting role requires a highly motivated individual, who has the ability to problem solve complex issues, whilst being a visible and supportive Nurse in Charge, clinical advisor and compassionate leader.

Faculty of Emergency Nursing (FEN) training and development programme is available for all ED nurses.

Guaranteed Continual Professional Development (CPD) from FEN in order to support proficiency and competency in the workplace plus contribute towards revalidation.

Career pathway in emergency nursing through the FEN programmes under pinning opportunities for promotion and progression.

Main duties of the job

You will be a registered nurse with substantial post registration experience in an acute setting at a Band 6 level. You will be an effective leader and role model and will be expected to manage the department and use your experience to support the implementation of both clinical and non-clinical governance, working flexibly as a member of the departmental team.

We have a wide range of specialties from the emergency department to cardiac surgery. We also have hospital@night and hospital@day services. Within the urgent and emergency care directorate there is DREEAM which is the department of research and education for emergency, acute med and major trauma.

The Medicine Division at NUH compromises of 11 specialties including the emergency department and major trauma centre with over 2,500 staff and a budget of over £180 million. Split across two sites this large Division offers varied opportunities across with both urgent and emergency care priorities and elective care.
