JOB DESCRIPTION
Events are finally back at the National Theatre and we are on the hunt for a driven, hungry & super talented Senior Events Manager to help deliver stellar operations across all commercial events and other projects within the National Theatre. Working across a plethora of private & corporate events, this role is suitable for an ambitious and talented events professional with experience of operating and planning events and projects week-in-week-out. You’ll need to thrive on providing sensational service, commercially savvy and financially capable, in love with the food and beverage industry and come with a creative streak and a head for multi-tasking and problem-solving.
This position plays a key role in the planning and delivery of 300+ events per year.
- Operational events for NT food and drink
- Update and review all operational risk assessments, H&S auditing and compliant documentation
- Management of all operational planning of each event including the management of 3rd suppliers and ordering.
- Building strong relationships with other departments including logistics, housekeeping, Security, tech and music licensing.
- Management of creating briefing documents, new staff H&S onboarding.
- Reporting of P&L to the head of events.
- Continuous review and upkeeping of high standards of the events through training and development.
- Managing direct reports to develop their skills set and support on leading large events.
- Liaise with the events sales team to understand the operational needs of each event.
- Manage external events within the National Theatre event spaces including the Buffini Chao Deck and Bank of America Terrace. This includes:
- Commercial hire of the NT and public realm for events, Wedding ceremonies and other notable celebrations
- To deliver Internal Events for the NT and our sponsors by communicating the NT’s idea and vision in the delivery of creative and high-quality parties and receptions. Internal clients include the Directors, Press, Learning & Development. These include:
- Sponsors’ and donors’ events - large, tailored receptions and dinners
- Cultivation events – ranging from organizing small scale drinks pre-performance to large 200+ people events with post performance reception
- Annual events for supporters of the NT
- Press night parties, exhibition openings and education events
- Manage, plan and operate all NT events, balancing the demands and priorities of corporate and internal clients
- Collaborate with the Events Sales Manager & Executive Chef to develop creative menus and play an active role in continuously developing the food offer in line with industry trends and customer expectations
- Deliver accurate P&L’s per event with the Events Sales Manager and deliver a weekly financial and operational performance report to the Finance Business Partner and Head of Operations
- Lead, inspire and develop a busy and diverse team, including managing a team of at least 20 casual staff and supervisors
- Responsible for staffing to include working closely with NT Food and Drink’s staffing partner for all requirements including front of house staff, bar staff and operational support staff
- Work closely with the wider NT Food and Drink and NT teams across all catering outlets and departments 3Internal
- Any other duties as deemed reasonable by the events management,
PERSON SPECIFICATION
- 5 years + experience in a similar role (C&B, MICE, Contract Catering etc.), ready to hit the ground running
- Experience of working in a multi-outlet environment, preferably within an iconic heritage/cultural venue
- Ability to communicate clearly and set achievable objectives
- Customer service focused with a keen eye for detail
- Proven experience managing events for 300+ guests
- Experience in events health & safety and food safety
- Excellent people skills, with the ability to talk to all key stakeholders
- Positive and flexible attitude, a real do-er with an openness to rolling up your sleeves and pitching in from time to time on non-designated areas of the business
- An interest in the independent food industry and wider food scene of London
- Outstanding hustle
