Job Description
We are looking for someone to join our friendly team of dog groomers.
Your work as an apprentice in the grooming salon will involve most areas of the business including
- prepping dogs
- customer service
- reception duties
- cleaning and laundry
- helping the groomers
- caring for the dogs
The prepping will involve you training to carry out health checks on the dogs, bathing, drying, scissoring faces and feet, trimming sanitary areas and pads, clipping nails, removing ear hair and cleaning ears. Hopefully moving on to breed specific styling.
This is a fast paced job but will bring with it a high level of satisfaction and achievement.
Your training will involve both training on the job and off the job which will be explained in further detail if you are successful.
Skills and Qualities
- Some previous experience handling animals desirable
- Hard working
- Passionate
- Team worker
- Good communication skills
- Empathetic and kind to animals is a must
Desired Qualifications
- GCSE grade 4/C in maths and English or equivalent is desirable but not essential.
- Applicants must not already hold a level 2 or higher in dog grooming.
Training
- Full training to be provided by the employer and NEAT at the place of employment.
- The applicant will be working towards and gain a Level 2 Dog Grooming Apprenticeship Standard.
- The learner will be allocated an assessor who will provide remote teaching and assessing throughout the apprenticeship.
- The apprentice will work towards an End Point Assessment (EPA) at the end of their apprenticeship
Things to consider
