About the role
As a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Operations and Business Technology Management you will have particular responsibility for developing, leading and teaching a range of academic modules and professional short courses in areas such as improving operations performance, risk management, operations strategy, lean/agile operations management and use of technology in the workplace.
Expertise in several of these areas would, therefore, be an advantage. A flexible approach to teaching across undergraduate (UG), postgraduate (PG) and professional programmes is required.
If successful, you would be expected to:
- Contribute to the leadership, teaching, research, and commercial activities related to the operations and business technology subject area and demonstrate the confidence, experience and ability to teach across a range undergraduate, postgraduate, apprenticeship and post experience executive programmes.
- Demonstrate an innovative and flexible approach to curriculum design and teaching and assessment methods.
- Provide high quality, accessible learning opportunities, create exceptional student experience in line with the University’s strategic objectives including TEF and ensure that employability and ‘real-world’ learning are at the heart of the curriculum.
- Engage in research which influences leading edge practice, informs and inspires a research-led curriculum and contributes to continuing subject expertise and to the REF.
You will work as part of a diverse and committed team and be expected to engage positively with the development of the curriculum as well as having module leadership and other relevant responsibilities.
You will be expected to have gained a high level of successful teaching experience and be able to demonstrate how your pedagogic practice engages student learning, delivers a positive student experience and addresses future expectations of students within the workplace.
You should be able to provide evidence of your knowledge and expertise in your subject area from a range of perspectives and how this integrates with and informs the business context and climate. It is anticipated that your own research will further contribute to teaching and assist in the development of new insights into operations and business technology issues within organisations.
