Why does this role exist?
BRE’s Security Team is a renowned and respected provider of security testing, research and standards that help to protect people and property from crime and terrorism. It is also responsible for issuing security product certification under our internationally recognised LPCB brand, ensuring end users and other stakeholders can rely on those products to deliver the required protection against crime and terrorism.
The physical security team require a technician to join the expanding team to conduct physical security testing and activities as part of the testing and certification of physical security products.

Certification & Testing
You will be responsible for:
- Testing of security products in accordance with a range of national and international standards, as well as LPS standards (developed by BRE) and client specifications.
- Provide data and information for peers to be used within security reports and documentation.
- Draft proposals for the testing of security equipment.
- Assist with maintaining the test equipment, laboratories and storage areas.
- Assist with maintaining and development of our testing capability, including our accreditation schedule.
- Assisting with the development of BRE’s security business and promoting its services at exhibitions, conferences and other events (as appropriate).
The role will involve some travelling, mainly in the UK but with increasing opportunities for international travel.
What skills, knowledge and behaviours does the role need?
Essential:
- Engineering / construction work experience or qualification. However, exceptional individuals possessing other qualifications or industry experience may be suitable for the role if they can demonstrate the appropriate knowledge, skills and experience required.
- Pro-active, agile, motivated and someone that won't shy away from getting their hands dirty.
- Proficient IT skills, including the use of Word, Excel and other Microsoft Office based packages.
- Good communication skills.
Desirable:
- Understanding of testing of security products and the associated quality standards and processes.
