Position Purpose:

Processing of drawings, files, bills of materials, and requests relating to the manufacturing process. Ensuring they are collated within the site planning systems and that all procurement and manufacturing requirements are sent to the required departments for actioning. To support this, the Machine Shop Scheduler will support the Production Controller in organising the procurement and manufacturing works into a daily schedule for presentation to the wider team. The Production Scheduler will also ensure new material demands are identified, logged, and actioned through the procurement team.

In this role you will also be required to collate data for the reporting of production milestones, ensure material traceability processes are being observed, highlighting deficiencies or irregularities in the incoming production requests, striving to recommend improvements in processes or working practices, and always ensuring that Health, Safety and Environmental requirements are adhered to.

Main Outcomes of the Position

  • Ensure that all incoming production requests are acknowledged and processed into business planning systems
  • Ensure that relevant drawings, bills of materials, and any other required worksheets are printed for the production departments
  • Produce procurement requirements for the buyers
  • Support the Production Controller in producing daily plans for each of the manufacturing areas.
  • Ensure that all manufacturing revisions are processed and issued work is paused/scrapped where applicable. Drawings and supporting documents are updated promptly.
  • Monitor procurement milestones and support the procurement team to ensure they are aware of 'required by' dates.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring incoming production requests are acknowledged promptly
  • Provide helpful feedback to improve the quality of incoming production requests
  • Engage with team members in each manufacturing area to ensure plans are as up to date as possible.
  • Knowledge of purchasing systems to observe that all orders have been placed in a timely manner for materials
  • Point of contact for team members to chase up on missing parts or quality issues
  • Effective time management to ensure balance between daily production issues, systems updates, and new production requests – flagging up when support is required
  • Flag up production delays to the wider team to prompt, and participate in discussions to mitigate the impact where necessary
  • Attend project meetings and action/communicate instructions
  • Adhere to all Health, Safety and Environmental requirements.

Foundation / Position Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Some exposure or experience in a production scheduling/sequencing role
  • Strong I.T skills and the ability to learn bespoke I.T systems quickly
  • Microsoft Excel, specifically the ability to manage and manipulate high volumes of data into a digestible format for presentation
  • Experience reading manufacturing drawings
