The Role:

The Junior Systems Administrator is responsible for the effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and related infrastructure. This individual ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational values, enabling employees to do their jobs efficiently and effectively.

This role will be remote but with a requirement to be able to attend the Manchester office incase of emergencies.

What You’ll Do:

  • Install, Configure, and Manage VMware ESXi hosts and multiple VMware environments with assistance from other Infrastructure team members.
  • Manage Microsoft Windows Servers
  • Manage OS patching schedules and troubleshoot any failed backups using a third-party application, as well as basic group policy management. Run scripts to deploy and uninstall software and queries to organize management of Infrastructure systems. Manage patch reporting of these systems.
  • Install/decommission existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. by standards and project/operational requirements.
  • Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems, and key processes, reviewing systems and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
  • Active Directory- managing users, computers, and groups.
  • Provides Tier II level support. Monitor work orders or ticket status ensuring work assignments are completed to end-user satisfaction.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
  • Protects organizations value by keeping information confidential.
  • Document and maintain accurate installation and procedure guides, working with architects for creating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as needed.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Basic knowledge of Active Directory.
  • Ability to perform typical PC, Mac, and Service Desk support, including server configuration, upgrades and maintenance of hardware, operating systems, including file and print sharing, communication protocols, removing and replacing components, troubleshooting system operational errors, and request tracking.
  • Working experience with a wide variety of hardware including Dell, Cisco UCS, Pure Storage, and NetApp.
  • Operating systems including VMware hypervisors, Windows Server 2016-2022, and Windows Desktop 10 and 11. Basic knowledge of Linux OS is a plus but not needed.
  • Knowledge of software including, Office 365, ServiceNow, and any BeyondTrust software like PRA or RS.
  • Knowledge of backup systems and methodologies, Rubrik a plus.
  • Solid TCP/IP network knowledge and troubleshooting skills, with an understanding of DHCP, and DNS network services.

Nice To Have:

  • Experience working with SAN storage is considered a plus.
  • HCI experience is considered a plus.
  • Azure and AWS experience is considered a plus.
  • BeyondTrust Software is considered a plus.
  • Linux or Unix OS a plus
