Job Description

As Senior Marketing Manager, you are responsible for developing the strategic and tactical event marketing plan to meet the event key performance indicators. You are the key marketing representative and project manager to the wider event project team. You maintain an understanding of the specific event programmes and initiatives to determine how to position them within the overall event narrative and messaging. You provide marketing leadership and insight to the wider event project team. Remaining clear on the understanding of how the event is tracking towards the key performance indicators, you determine where the marketing plan needs to be adjusted and how. You provide an input into a variety of marketing communication pieces overall.

The Technology & Foundry Marketing Team communicate the benefits and value of the latest 5G Era mobile technologies to the wider mobile industry and key vertical industry markets through a range of digital and physical communications media. Working within GSMA Mutual, this role provides the opportunity to influence and accelerate the growth the of the world’s mobile market.
About the role:
The Senior Marketing Manager will be primarily responsible for producing and implementing marketing plans for engagement with key vertical customer markets such as Manufacturing , Smart Mobility, and FinTech in alignment with key 5G Era mobile technologies such as IoT, 5G Networks and Security. This includes marketing strategy, requirements, positioning, messaging, communications, digital and collaborative marketing.
The role requires working with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders including the GSMA Brand & Content, PR and Technology teams, GSMA Ltd, leading mobile industry companies and customer/vertical influencers. Experience of industry partnerships, events, data base focused marketing activity, website, social and email marketing campaigns is especially important. Occasional international travel will be required.
This role is reporting to Marketing Director, Industry Services and Solutions.
Lead vertical marketing activity, for priority customer markets (E.G. Manufacturing, FinTech and Sports Entertainment)
  • Production of an agreed marketing strategy, audience identification and detailed delivery plan
  • Delivery of marketing activities associated with the vertical market including internal and external messaging
  • Manage or support associated external collaborative group/community including operators, ecosystem stakeholders, sponsors and internal stakeholders
  • Work with Technology Leads to support the delivery of objectives and KPI’s within the overall Technology plan through the marketing plan and associated budget
Plan and deliver event marketing communications activity
  • Develop and deliver online & physical events plan with support from the wider marketing team and external partners/sponsors E.G. webinars, workshops, seminars and summits
  • Plan and deliver major event marketing communications activity for MWC Barcelona, MWC Shanghai, MWC Las Vegas MWC Africa and regional M360 events
  • Work with marketing, GSMA Ltd teams and sponsors to achieve marketing & PR objectives for major events
Provide marketing support for short term specific Technology & Marketing Foundry projects
  • Work with selected Foundry project managers to produce an agreed marketing plan to support the project objectives
  • Deliver these Foundry project marketing plans with key internal and external stakeholders
  • Manage project marketing budgets and provide associated reporting
About you:
  • A results focused senior marketing manager able to work comfortably at a strategic level with supporting internal, external team members and senior industry partners
  • Experience of technology and/or mobile industry marketing
  • Prefers to deliver marketing projects rather than manage a direct team of reports
  • Thrives on working within in a small motivated team with a team first ethos
  • Contribute fully in all reporting activity required by the organisation in a timely fashion, as required, including the reporting schedule and the budget reporting schedule.
  • Marketing experience of digital projects (WordPress & Saleforce) and physical/hybrid events (Technology events)
  • Advise and support new members of the team by communicating and demonstrating best practice
  • Maintain and manage PO requirements in a timely fashion and reporting into the budgeting process.
