Our Finance Apprenticeship is designed for enthusiastic individuals who want to dive into the world of finance and excel in their career. We want to emphasise that no prior experience is necessary: we will teach and coach you every step of the way!
The Graduate Apprenticeship Scheme offered by Caledonian University provides an opportunity to obtain a Masters degree (MAcc) and a professional accountancy qualification (ACCA) over the course of 5 years, whilst gaining valuable work experience simultaneously.
WHAT YOU’LL LEARN:
As a Finance Apprentice, you’ll have the chance to learn some valuable skills, and will be responsible for tasks like this.
- Utilising RBH’s procurement software and E-scanning system to process purchase invoices and upload into the accounting system.
- Undertaking suppliers’ payment runs for hotels.
- Setting up ad-hoc payments (i.e., urgent supplier payments, office expenses) via BACs and online banking system.
- Processing petty cash returns and ensuring all costs are appropriately supported and accurately accounted for, in a timely manner.
- Processing employee expense claims
- Undertaking supplier statement reconciliation as required.
- Supporting project work within the finance department
As part of the 5 year training plan once you have mastered the purchase ledger process we will look to start you on a management accountant development program which will allow you to gain knowledge and experience of a management accountant tasks and responsibilities within the business. This will complement your university studies and ACCA qualification.

ENTRY CRITERIA
For entry to the Glasgow Caledonian Graduate Apprenticeship Scheme, it is essential candidates fulfil one of the following criteria listed a) to d):
- a) SQA Highers: BBBBC including English, (or another essay-based subject, e.g. History or Modern Studies) and Maths or Accountancy
- b) Have attained a Grade A in an HNC (or equivalent) in Accounting or Finance related subject
- c) Have 2 years’ demonstrable work experience in a Finance Assistant type role with successful study at SCQF level 7 or above
- d) Have 4 years’ demonstrable Finance or Accounting experience and successfully studied at SCQF level 6 or above
If a candidate has completed a Foundation Apprenticeship, in combination with SQA Highers this would be equivalent to one Higher at B grade. If a candidate has completed a Modern Apprenticeship at SCQF level 6 in a relevant discipline, this would be equivalent to two Highers at B grade
