An excellent opportunity has arisen for the right individual to join our team. Davis Grant are a highly successful accountancy practice based in Ilford, East London who have recently merged with Gravita and are now part of the Gravita Group, a top 30 Accountancy practice. Our client base is hugely varied and includes clients in sectors from tech start-ups, property investment companies, large group companies and non-listed Plcs.
You will have exposure to a wide range of clients and industries tailored to both your expertise and future career progression. Together with the other audit and accounts managers, you will be responsible for allocating client assignments within the work planner, to the correct level of accounts team member and ensuring the work is completed on time and within budget. You will be expected to provide constructive mentoring support to the accounts/audit team as they continue on their professional journey.
Together with the other managers, you should be continually looking for improvements within the client experience, internal efficiencies and accounts department team welfare.
You will be expected to work autonomously, managing and evaluating various client and internal demands to achieve agreed deadlines. We strive to continually exceed client expectations on service and delivery.
A proven track record of expertise in audit and ideally accounting and corporate tax within varied industries is key for the role. What will make the successful candidate stand out are their interpersonal skills both verbal and written which must be outstanding.
IT knowledge is critical and we expect the right candidate to be exceptionally competent on Excel. They should also be comfortable with navigating cloud-based bookkeeping solutions.
The role will be a mix of office-based, client premises-based and flexible home working.
For the right candidate, there are significant career progression and specialisation opportunities beyond manager as the firm looks to continually grow and develop.
Job role:
- Manage an audit portfolio, to include audit planning, fieldwork (to an extent) and completion of the audits for medium and large company accounts as part of a team
- Review and feedback of the audit work
- Much of the fieldwork will be carried out at the client’s premises given you a unique insight into a diverse range of sectors and interaction with clients almost immediately
- Audit of industry specific accounts including solicitors accounts and charities
- Providing detailed discussion notes for final audit meetings and attending the meetings with the Audit Partner
- Direct client involvement – working with the client to solve queries and provide recommendations
- Budgeting and WIP management of client portfolio
- Assisting the firm in maintaining high levels of audit compliance
- Weekly meetings and reporting with Directors
- Ensure technically up to date with latest accounting and Audit aspects
- Allocation of Audit client assignments and team members on the work planner
- Be part of a management team responsible for the efficiencies and mentoring of the accounts department
Requirements:
- 5+ years of Audit experience
- Excellent knowledge of Excel and data analysis techniques
- Knowledge of MWP audit software would be advantageous
- Solid knowledge of VAT and Corporate tax would be advantageous
- Superb written and spoken English
- Must be highly enthusiastic and self-motivated
- Can work as part of a team or independently
- The ability to drive would be useful
