At Vets for Pets Trowbridge, we are looking for an experienced small animal veterinary surgeon who is looking to become a part of an award-winning practice that offers a high ratio of nurse to vet support allowing our patients the best care possible and will allow you, as the vet, to work
The practice itself is based in a thriving Pets at Home store, and is a modern, purpose-built practice with digital x-ray, blood pressure monitoring, laparoscopy, full in-house lab, separate dog, cats and exotics kennel wards and fully equipped operating theatre. At Vets for Pets, you will of course receive help from the support centre but what truly makes it special is that we are a locally run practice supporting our local community. This gives all our vets the opportunity to put their stamp on their practices and shape the care we deliver.
We are growing all the time and seeing a variety of interesting surgical and medical cases, because of this we are now looking for a veterinary surgeon to join our existing team of 3 veterinary surgeons, 8 qualified veterinary nurses, 1 trainee veterinary nurse, 2 veterinary nursing assistants and 4 receptionists all supported by the clinical and admin team leaders.
What makes this role different for you
Matt, our JVP, has a wealth of knowledge in medicine with over 20 years qualified experience and he is supported in practice by the Head Vet (also full-time) who has 24 years of experience. This offers you an amazing experience to learn a multitude of new skills and knowledge. Matt is also very passionate about the development of his team so highly encourages all his colleagues to undertake training, so you will be given a generous CPD allowance and the opportunity to have certificates funded!
The practice runs on 3 vets per day, offering lots of support with 2 vets consulting and 1 vet dedicated to surgery. This role is for full time and will include weekend work on a 1:4 basis with Saturdays 9am – 5:30 and Sunday 10:30 – 4:30. However, we are open to other options, so if you are looking for a part time role, we are open to discuss this.
As a practice we understand that work life balance is important to you, so we offer this role with a flexible rota if desired, as well as 15-minute consults as standard with “catch up” time built into the diary. You will have a protected lunch break and dedicated admin time for your telephone calls etc.

- Salary of £40,000 to £65000 commensurate with experience
