This six month fixed term contract opportunity is your chance to work on an RSPCA design system and to play a key role in a high impact project, the outcome of which will make a real difference to the future of the RSPCA.
As one of our UX Designers, you will create and develop the RSPCA's digital visual identity and will use that to create a market-leading user experience, which takes the RSPCA to the forefront of the charity sector.
This will be handled through the design of digital products and services with a focus on a user-centered UX/UI design.
This is very much a collaborative role, which will see you working closely with the IT, brand, marketing and data teams to deliver the design for digital experiences that support all RSPCA activities, including rehoming, campaigns, advice and welfare, fundraising, education and brand awareness work.
Although we will need you to collaborate, the nature of this project is such that you must have the skill set, experience and confidence to hit the ground running and to work under your own steam and initiative.
Here's some of the key work that you will be doing...
As our UX Designer, we will look to you to create wireframes for responsive layouts and to effectively communicate proposed user experience, functionality and interaction design.
In order to do this, you will work collaboratively with internal clients and colleagues across the RSPCA to generate creative, highly usable digital solutions that are on-brand, current and support the digital strategy.
Within this role, you will have the opportunity to turn early design ideas/wireframes into interactive prototypes that can be tested with stakeholders and end-users, all whilst championing best practice digital design principles, which include a strong knowledge of typography, visual hierarchy, colour theory and information design.
We are keen for our UX Designer to contribute to the future direction of digital design at the RSPCA.You'll work closely with stakeholders to share your expertise and promote UX approaches.
A key element of this role is to set high standards and best practices principles by making a valuable contribution to new processes and ways of working and by defining reusable patterns of design in order to drive efficiencies across the design process.
We will look to you to maintain, promote and develop digital design guidelines, best practices and standards and also to provide a key input into the RSPCA brand guidelines, which are set by the Brand department.
What we are looking for in you...
- To succeed in this role it's essential that you have proven experience using a digital design system and a good understanding of web accessibility.
- It is essential that you have proven experience of Figma.
- It would be great if you have previous experience in google analytics, heatmap analysis, Crazy Egg, Usability hub and user research, although experience of working with these is not essential.
- You will be keen to stay up to date with design trends/approaches and to be at the forefront of UX design innovation.
- In order to add value, it is key that you can demonstrate that you have a customer focussed approach to delivering solutions, along with an interest and awareness in developing technologies.
- Obviously, it is key that you have a passion for working in digital and an interest and awareness in web accessibility, along with the desire to learn more.
- Good communication skills are vital and you will need to be able to explain ideas to stakeholders of varying digital abilities.

The RSPCA are offering a hybrid working arrangement for this role, so you will have the opportunity to work from our South East Regional Hub (Horsham; West Sussex) with a high focus on remote working. Trips to our hub will be for core collaboration.
This role is being offered as a six month fixed term contract and we are keen for our chosen candidate to start with us as soon as possible after interviews.
First stage interviews will be held remotely on the 29th and the 30th of August.
