The Role
Agile and responsive collaborator who is responsible for developing and executing comprehensive media and external communications strategies to build Worley’s reputation across global markets, and position Worley as a leading authority in the energy transition. As a member of the Corporate Affairs team, the Global Head of Media and External Communications plays a critical role in protecting Worley’s reputation supporting issues and crisis management activities across the world.
Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver media and external communications strategies, plans and campaigns for Worley that position the company as a leader in the energy transition and delivery of sustainable solutions.
- Prepare media releases, opinion pieces, speeches, and other forms of content for distribution across owned, shared and earned media outlets and build close relationships with Marketing and Internal Communications to ensure all opportunities are leveraged.
- Identify speaking opportunities and other events that drive media and external communications opportunities consistent with strategy and brand.
- Respond to media enquiries and drafting holding statements to ensure all issues are effectively managed with minimal impact on Worley’s reputation.
- Prepare briefing notes, undertaken research and supporting material (such as Q&As).
- Build relationships with journalists, editors, and commentators.
- Build media capability across the GE and senior leaders including media briefings, media insights and coordinate media training as appropriate including providing advice on positioning, minimizing media risk, and protecting reputation.
- Prepare quarterly media reports aligned to KPIs as well as media reporting for specific campaigns, issues, and other key events.
- Support media management around key IR events including full and half year results, roadshows, and conferences.
- Support the Senior Group Director in developing and maintaining group-wide issues management and crisis management plans, activities, training and associated activities.
- Manage the media and external communications team, budget and KPIs ensuring that all external communications are consistent with strategy and adhere to the External Communication Standards and approval processes.
About You
You’re a seasoned professional with significant years of experience working in media and communications. You hold a degree in communications, public relations or other relevant discipline. Bring your excellent written communications skills with experience developing case studies, press releases, articles and other communication materials to your new team and our global organisation. You can present information simply and clearly to a range of stakeholders across our regions. You possess strong organisational and time management skills with a proven ability to work autonomously, meeting deadlines is second nature to you.
Able to demonstrate an understanding of the earned, owned and shared media environment across all channels. Innovative problem-solving skills, take initiative and you have high attention to detail.
Human centric and emotionally intelligent, you will lead and empower your direct reports (2) and passionate about forming strong relationships with your stakeholders.
