Job Purpose:
Laidlaw Schools Trust are looking for an in-house, Graphic Design intern to join their central team in Newcastle on a 12-month, fixed term contract with the potential to be made permanent.
The successful candidate will be able to produce impactful designs to drive engagement via a variety of different communications to compliment the wider marketing strategy. They will get to work on a wide variety of projects whilst always working to lead the brand forward and raise the profile of LST.
Responsibilities:
- Manage graphic design projects from concept to final execution and build design into the wider marketing plan
- Ensuring brand consistency throughout all external and internal communications
- Design, produce and deliver high quality brochures, collateral, and adverts
- Create visual content and designs for marketing campaigns and collateral, including print and digital advertising/promotional campaigns, email banners, infographics and animations (desirable)
- Organise and maintain a library of school-life images and photography for use within LST
- Communicate project timelines internally
- Push new ideas, bring specialist skills and develop the quality of all creative output
- Confidently liaise with printers, photographers, and videographers to ensure deadlines are met and assets are produced to the highest quality
- Take internal briefs to produce high-quality and succinct designs that ensure brand consistency
- Own the LST brand, be able to communicate guidelines and recommended development to stakeholders
Essential Skills and Experience (Required):
- BA Hons Degree in Graphic Design or closely related subject
- A strong portfolio demonstrating experience and your creativity across a variety of projects and outputs
- Excellent communication and good people skills, confident at presenting and able to communicate ideas
- Excellent skills with Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator
- Strong conceptual design skills and the ability to take direction well and understand requirements
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects, often with tight turn-around times
- Expertise in layout, typography and imagery coupled with impeccable eye for detail and accuracy
- An understanding of the latest design trends and how to apply them to an educational environment
- Skills with Adobe PremierPro or other video creating/editing software (Desirable)
