Job Description

Cardiff | £35,000 - £45,000 + Benefits

About us:

We're here to make money work for everyone and we're doing things differently. For too long, banking has been obtuse, complex and opaque.

We want to change that and build a bank with everyone, for everyone. Our amazing community suggests features, test the app and give us constant feedback so we can build something everyone loves.

We're focused on solving problems, rather than selling financial products. We want to make the world a better place and change people's lives through Monzo.

About our Finance Team:

We're looking for an enthusiastic Financial Operations (FinOps) Analyst to join our team in Cardiff and help us build an amazing finance function.

We have some really exciting challenges coming up like system implementations, launching new businesses and growing our business in the UK and abroad. We're constantly adding new suppliers and looking to expand the role of the FinOps squad, such as adding tax, reporting and treasury work. You'll work on scaling Monzo in a controlled way, while helping us optimise our processes with the help of technology. You'll join the Finance team and report to our FinOps Team Lead.

The Role

Everyday you'll:

  • Process multi-currency invoices for UK and US subsidiaries
  • Review employee expenses and approving them for payment
  • Monitor email and Slack channels and responding to suppliers and colleagues queries
  • Create new suppliers in the system and ensuring that supplier onboarding process has been completed
  • Prepare weekly payment runs, making sure invoices have been approved in line with our policy and suppliers being paid on time
  • Help with our VAT reporting and processes
  • Run ad-hoc reports for our stakeholders across Finance
  • Prepare aged creditor & debtor reports, identifying any issues
  • Reconcile supplier statements, identifying discrepancies and resolving them
  • Support our Accounts Receivable function, raising new invoices and chasing for payments
  • Help the Finance team with delivery of a timely month end
  • Keep our process documentation up to date and documenting from scratch new processes and controls
  • Support the team in the automation of processes
  • Help to resolve team inquiries, and picking up ad-hoc tasks as they come in (e.g reports on spend for particular suppliers etc.)

You should apply if you:

  • Have some relevant experience in Accounts Payable & Receivable functions, with tax or treasury experience a bonus
  • Can adapt to new systems easily (e.g. Netsuite/SAP and G-suite functionality)
  • Love the challenge of learning new things and getting stuck in
  • Have a great eye for detail and delight in investigating and solving issues for people
  • Thrive in a dynamic and constantly evolving environment
  • Are a self-starter and are hands-on
  • What we're doing at Monzo excites you!

The interview process:

Our interview process involves 3 main stages:

  • Recruiter call
  • Initial call with the hiring manager
  • 2-3 calls with various stakeholders

Our average process takes around 2-3 weeks but we will always work around your availability. You will have the chance to speak to our recruitment team at various points during your process but if you do have any specific questions ahead of this please contact us on *hiring email*

What's in it for you:

This role is based in our Cardiff office

  • We offer flexible working hours and trust you to work enough hours to do your job well, at times that suit you and your team.

Learning budget of £1,000 a year for books, training courses and conferences

➕ And much more, see our full list of benefits here

If you prefer to work part-time, we'll make this happen whenever we can - whether this is to help you meet other commitments or strike a great work-life balance.

Equal Opportunity Statement

We are actively creating an equitable environment for every Monzonaut to thrive.

Diversity and inclusion are a priority for us and we are making sure we have lots of support for all of our people to grow at Monzo. At Monzo, embracing diversity in all of its forms and fostering an inclusive environment for all people to do the best work of their lives with us.
