The Opportunity
You will work on transport business cases as well as a range of high-profile projects in economic development, regeneration, economic study, land use / housing and environmental economics for a range of public and private sector clients. Be accountable for production of deliverables and think creatively/ be curious about our client’s needs and current urban and transport challenges. The role will involve undertaking research and analysis as part of a project team and keeping up to date with relevant government guidance (including TAG and HMT Green Book). Communicating effectively and articulating technical concepts to a non-technical audience will be expected along with helping to win work, and to widen our brief.

Our ideal candidate will have a versatile skillset, with the ability to provide transport economics expertise alongside broader economics capability across a range of sectors – for example, economic development, regeneration, economic analysis and evaluation, land use / housing and environmental economics.
You will have demonstrable experience in the application of economic theory and practice, having previously worked in consultancy or government, with a track record of project delivery.
We are seeking skills & experience as follows;
- Bachelor's degree or a post-graduate degree in economics, transport studies, urban planning, public policy, social science, or in a related field.
- Experience in preparing transport, regeneration or infrastructure business cases and strong knowledge of the HMT Green Book and Project Business Case guidance (Better Business Case Certification desirable).
- comprehension of the benefits of transport investment schemes including wider economic and social benefits and experience of producing economic appraisals based on UK appraisal guidance (e.g., DfT’s WebTAG).
- Ability to conduct research and apply economic theory to promote innovative approaches to business case development including identification and quantification of benefit streams.
