This is an exciting opportunity to join Dr Matthew Swire's team at the UCL Wolfson Institute for Biomedical Research. The team is working in collaboration with the lab groups of Professor William Richardson, Professor Huiliang Li and Professor Nicoletta Kessaris, on a project aiming to understand the role of oligodendrocyte lineage cells in shaping neural circuits during learning and memory formation.
The post holder will be responsible for providing support and conducting lab-based research under the supervision of Dr Matthew Swire. This will involve the use of mouse genotyping and colony management, mouse behavioural testing, histochemical analysis of mouse brain, tissue culture, AAV production and use, confocal microscopy and image analysis.
The individual will also assist in the preparation of research papers, grant applications and meeting presentations along with general lab management.
This role is an open-ended contract funded for 4 years and 2 months in the first instance.
Please note that salary will be on the Grade 6B (currently from £36,832 to £38,466 per annum).

You should hold an undergraduate or master’s degree in neuroscience or a related subject, and have experience working in a lab environment with expertise in a range of lab techniques including immunohistochemistry, microscopy, genotyping and working with rodents.
You are also enthusiastic about succeeding in research, self-motivated, have excellent organisational and communication skills and are able to work both independently and as part of a team.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a multidisciplinary team working across the Division of Medicine.
