Over the last few years the business has grown rapidly and we are now seeking to further expand the Facetheory team by hiring an experienced Formulation Chemist. We're looking for a responsible, self-motivated professional who will enjoy working in an energetic and fast-paced environment.
Research Associate
About the Position:
The role is critical in ensuring development projects are launched on time and in full. An experienced cosmetic chemist in product development will manage short- and long-term development work within the technical team for NPD & EPD projects. Also, provide technical support within manufacturing, customer service and packaging-related aspects of the business.
Key Responsibilities
Managing projects to deliver new or improved personal care products through innovative laboratory formulation and development, with consideration of cost, raw material interactions, quality, and time constraints.
To develop and evaluate new products for new applications, to bring them to market speedily and effectively.
Troubleshooting issues arising with formulations at all stages from lab to manufacturing to commercialisation
To ensure that all assigned work is delivered in a timely manner and that all associated requirements, objectives, and targets are fully met.
To ensure good communication with and appropriate involvement of other technical functions, production, and customer service teams, as well as the commercial teams.
To liaise with plant personnel and provide technical support and assistance to resolve production and quality issues.
Ensuring adherence to ISO 22716, 9001 and relevant company quality practices.
To be responsible for the provision of formulations and aid in the scaling up of new products.
To be responsible for quality control activities.
To maintain general good housekeeping of the laboratory and associated areas.
Assist with validation, maintenance and calibration of any equipment used in the lab.
Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience Required:
A degree or equivalent qualification incorporating aspects of Chemistry, Cosmetic Chemistry or a related subject.
SCS diploma qualification is an essential requirement.
Commercial experience of product development experience from the personal care industry.
Knowledge and understanding of the uses of the Company’s manufactured products.
Experience working in an R&D environment.
Experience working in the manufacturing (preferably chemical) industry.
Strong commitment to HSE and quality values.
Strong sense of urgency and ability to drive work forward to meet targets and timelines.
Demonstrable problem-solving / troubleshooting skills with regard to technical issues.

Salary: £40,000.00-£55,000.00 per year
