Job Description
The Director, PR & Communications will be responsible for creating and driving the PR/comms strategies (external & internal) for Hayu and EMEA Networks & DTC. Reporting to the VP, DTC PR & Communications, this exciting, newly created role covers both streaming and linear channels, placing emphasis on DTC and B2C publicity/communications; the Director will work closely with the Marketing teams to drive awareness, subscription and retention.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & REQUIRED RESULTS:
- Develop and implement innovative PR & comms strategies aligned to the commercial objectives of Hayu and EMEA Networks & DTC
- Collaborate closely with the VP, DTC PR & Communications on managing a newly realigned team, including direct line management of PR Managers in London, Madrid and Paris
- Close collaboration with Marketing leaders to create and implement effective PR & Comms plans for driving subscription and retention, along with brand and content awareness
- Develop excellent stakeholder relationships including externally (talent, influencers and press etc.) and internally (cross-functional teams, PR/Comms colleagues in the US and other regions etc.)
- Develop Comms plans and press materials for campaigns/initiatives including press releases, briefing documents, executive Q&As
- Strategically leverage key talent including for press junkets, set visits, client and influencer events
- Manage range of PR agencies and vendors across multiple territories
- Align publicity focus with corporate, trade and internal communications
- Budget management including overseeing PO/invoicing process
- Maintain project trackers, detailed budgets, and success metrics
- Support the VP on corporate communications, issues and change management and internal comms for international DTC group
- Travel, as required, for talent tours and press events
- Additional duties as required
Qualifications
EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCIES:
- Outstanding communication skills, both written and oral
- Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and business acumen, confident in liaising with senior management, executives, clients, journalists and talent
- Evidence of strategic approach and robust project planning with proven track record of managing PR campaigns from inception to delivery, including managing teams and agencies
- Enthusiasm for content and motivated to play a part in the rapidly evolving media industry
- Proven track record in publicity, talent management, media relations and communications
- Highly organized, skilled at multi-tasking and prioritising workload under pressure, delivering to tight deadlines within a highly matrixed structure
- Experience in managing a team – across multiple offices – in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Confident to work both independently and to contribute to a cross-functional team; capable to seamlessly shift from leading to doing
- Sound financial acumen, with experience of managing PR budgets
- Exceptional eye for detail, design and proofreading skills
- Thorough understanding of trends, challenges and issues for the media industry
