Microsoft Research @198, Cambridge (UK) is looking for an AI resident (fixed-term researcher) in deep learning and generative AI. The candidate will closely work with researchers from a diverse background including machine learning, systems and physics. The research will involve advancing state-of-the-art machine learning methods including but not limited to foundation models, energy-based models, deep equilibrium models for real-world disruptions. This role offers a unique opportunity for research in novel deep learning techniques with the ability to apply them to some of the most widely used software and hardware in the world.

The successful candidate will undertake cutting-edge research on deep learning with other team members in Microsoft Research. They will write research code to test new approaches or develop novel theoretical and practical insights and test these new approaches on real-world applications and possibly novel compute paradigms. They will share their findings with product groups and via publications in recognized academic venues.
Required:

Completed (or on-track to complete) a PhD in deep learning, machine learning , physics or a related area, or equivalent experience.

Impact driven mindset and ability to work in a collaborative environment.

Track record in relevant research, such as deep learning, deep generative models as evidenced by publications in top-tier venues. Examples include but are not limited to ICML, NeurIPS, ICLR, UAI, AIStats, etc.

Hands-on experience with current deep learning frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, etc.), as evidenced by released code (e.g. on GitHub or elsewhere).

Software engineering skills for rapid and accurate development.

Effective communication skills.
