Job Description
Avaliable Job Today Junior Graphic Designer
Finch Design Company
Hybrid working, based in Norwich.
Company Overview
We’re Finch Design Co.
We listen with intent. We create with passion.
We're a tight-knit team of four creatives who are passionate about delivering imaginative and exceptional work to our clients. Our team may be small, but we're mighty skilled, and we're all about bringing our A-game to every project.
We believe in bonding and growing as a team, so we have regular team meetings, weekly design shares, and opportunities for our team to spread their wings and develop their skills.
This approach allows us to bring our best to every client project. We love what we do, and it shows in the quality of our work. We've joined forces with some amazing businesses of all shapes and sizes from Norfolk and all over the UK, creating kick-ass solutions that cater to their needs and audiences.
The Role
We’re looking for a talented Junior Graphic Designer to join our design team. Your main place of work will be in our Norwich city centre office Monday - Wednesday, with the opportunity to work remotely on Thursday and Friday.
This role is an exciting opportunity to work alongside established brands and further develop your knowledge of graphic design in a fresh and exciting full-service creative agency.
As our Junior Graphic Designer, you’ll become an important part of the creative team, and the role offers plenty of opportunities to grow and develop your skills.
Your main responsibility will be to create and produce artwork for Finch Design Company and our clients. But every day is different. In the morning, you could be developing a print campaign to launch a client’s exceptional new product. The afternoon could be spent working alongside our Digital Marketer to develop visually engaging, on-brand creative for a client’s social media campaign.
Our client's requests come thick and fast, and we respond accordingly. We take pride that they’ve chosen and trusted us with their brand and our team demonstrates that in all we do -
the positive can-do approach to briefs, taking accountability and responsibility for our work as individuals and learning from each project as a team to make the next even greater.
Here’s a taster menu of the type of projects you’ll get your hands on:
● Print projects requiring you to use photography, illustrations, icons and typography to create flyers, posters, pull-up banners and brochures
● Digital designs for each social media platform, working to each platform’s strengths and having knowledge of its limitations
● Email design for smart, engaging and effective newsletters landing in inboxes across the world
● Web design, supporting the Creative Director with icon creation, image editing, website wireframes and responsive design
No two projects are the same and we always take a solution-led approach to tricky design problems. We need you to take the initiative and find answers to creative roadblocks which always pop up such as translating campaign creative across different platforms, orientations and more.
We’re a small team and so collaboration is super important. The ability to clearly and effectively communicate ideas and feedback within the team while bringing new ideas to the table means we all have an opportunity to bring something special to each and every project.
While we love working together as a team, you should be adaptable and happy to work alone as well - making the design magic happen, just you and Adobe in sweet harmony.
We worked from home before Zoom was but a twinkle in 2020’s eye and fully support the benefits of hybrid working. We need someone who can jump on our morning team Google
Meet’s ready to tackle the day, keeping in touch through Google Chat and keeping the team updated on progress on Click-up.
We like to be one step ahead of the game and actively encourage the team to continue learning. We keep updated with the latest trends, best practices, advancements and training opportunities so we can develop and grow to deliver new and exciting ideas for our clients.
Do we sound like a place you’d like to work? Here’s what we’re looking for from you:
● Graphic Design or related degree (preferable)
● Experience in using Adobe Creative Suite Software (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)
● A strong design portfolio demonstrating print and digital artwork (preferable)
● A strong understanding of design principles, typography, colour theory, and layout.
● Ability to react quickly and efficiently to last-minute briefs on tight deadlines
● Committed and hardworking with a positive and upbeat approach, and a team player!
● Proactive, focused and driven with strong attention to design detail
● Ability to work unsupervised and remotely using your own initiative as well as working as part of a team.
Benefits:
● Skills development and training opportunities including Skillshare subscription
● £100 credit toward your work-from-home workspace (following the successful completion of your probationary period)
● 28 days annual leave allowance, plus bank holidays (3 days to be taken during

● Auto-enrollment pension scheme via SmartPension
● We welcome a flexible working day, with employees having the opportunity to start their day between 8am - 9.30am with corresponding finish times of between 4.30pm - 6pm
