We are looking for an experienced Healthcare Assistant to join our high achieving GP practice. The candidate needs to have the ability to work independently as well as part of the team. Key duties will include venepuncture, blood pressure recording, health checks and ECGs. The candidate will need good communication skills and the ability to work under pressure.
The role of the Health Care Assistant is one which is developing and becoming ever more responsible. The job description will give an idea of what areas of support we are looking for.
The successful applicant must hold a Level 3 Health Care qualification.
You will be expected to work during the surgery opening hours from 8.00am to 6.30pm. Specific shifts to be confirmed.
Job Type: Part-time, Permanent
Part-time hours: 18-24 hours per week (negotiable for the right candidate)
Salary will depend on qualifications and experience.

Person Specification
Essential Requirements
· GCSE Grade C/5 or above in Maths and English
· Level 3 Health Care qualification
· Development and willingness to undertake any necessary training
· Driving license with use of own vehicle
Desirable Requirements
· Experience working in General Practice
· Experience of using EMIS web clinical system

Job summary
Working under the supervision of the practice nursing team and strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols, the healthcare assistant will assist the practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care.
Duties and responsibilities:
· Venepuncture Inc. home visits
· Blood pressure recordings
· New patient health checks / NHS Health Checks
· High risk CVD annual reviews
· Hypertension reviews and BP checks
· ECG recording
· Urinalysis and specimen processing – urine dipsticks
· Vit B12 after loading dose with PSD completed by prescriber
· Flu vaccinations
· Chaperoning duties
· Sterilising, cleansing and maintenance of surgical equipment
· Vaccine/cold chain storage, monitoring and recording
· Surgical equipment and vaccine re-stocking and stock rotation
· Clearing and re-stocking consulting rooms
· Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions
· Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients’ health and well-being
· Other delegated administrative duties considered appropriate to the post
