In this role you will be required to engage and develop a regional team of electricians within our social housing space to deliver the highest standards of customer satisfaction, quality, efficiency and safety, in order to achieve business targets. To also drive a culture of service excellence and growth where customers are treated fairly and properly informed. You will be responsible for safety, adherence to technical standards and electrical work undertaken by the business and its quality on a day-to-day basis.
Key Accountabilities:
As an Electrical Qualifying Supervisor, you will motivate and engage your team to deliver against operational targets, standards, policies & procedures and business strategy whilst working to continuously improve contract performance. You will be responsible for the day-to-day safety, technical standard and quality of the electrical installation work carried out under your supervision.
Operational Excellence
- Motivates and engages the team to deliver against operational targets, standards, policies & procedures and business strategy whilst working to continuously improve.
- Using management information and data, recognises trends to support analysis of individual and team performance to quickly understand and address reasons for under or over performance; and builds into regular conversations and coaching with individuals.
- Uses multiple systems and interfaces, maintaining accurate and secure records, to enable smooth running of each skill type, including maintaining and building rosters, managing shift changes and work patterns
- Liaises with both internal and external key stakeholders to ensure the service meets the team and customer needs
- Undertake Duty Manager responsibilities (including out of hours, weekend and Bank Holidays) to ensure escalations are managed
- Fulfilling the relevant qualifications and training, including Continuous Professional Development requirements and experience
- Accommodating Assessments by P H Jones and the NICEIC
- Being conversant with the Electricity at Work Regulations*, BS 7671*, associated guidance material*, appropriate British Standards*, other Industry Codes of Practice*, and Building Regulations.
- Being proficient in the inspection, testing, verification, certification procedures for the range of Domestic Electrical Installation Work undertaken by PH Jones and ensuring results are properly recorded
- Having basic fire safety awareness
- Adhere to the Training & Competence framework to ensure each team member attains and maintains the required competency level to perform their role, and to promote a culture where customers are treated fairly and properly informed.
Safety, Compliance & Conduct
- Coaches the team on safety and quality control, ensuring that all work complies with current codes of practice, standards and legislation, particularly Health, Safety & Environmental, to ensure the wellbeing of employees, customers and their property.
- Proactively identifies issues, listens to feedback, and engages with the specialist HSE support team to ensure that we are continually working safely for our people and our customers.
- Manages conduct, operational and regulatory risks, escalating as appropriate
Work Experience & Functional/Technical Skills
- Must hold one of these Craft Qualifications and the achievement measurement competency assessment/end point assessment certificate is also required where relevant (AM2).
- NVQ Level 3 Certificate in Installing, Testing and Ensuring Compliance of Electrical installations in Dwellings – or equivalent list is available
- Gold electrotechnical certification scheme card (ECS)
- BS 7671 2:2022
- Inspection and testing – 2391 or 2391-52
- Held QS position in the last 6-12 months
- Track record of leading and inspiring teams to achieve goals and financial objectives including excellence in customer satisfaction in a regulated environment
- Aware of the commercial aims and objectives of British Gas and Centrica
- Knowledge and understanding of the business’ key performance indicators
- Understanding of what delivers great customer service and the complaints escalation and resolution process
- Understands good housekeeping for data protection and information security requirements
- Knowledge and understanding of good safety practice and duty of care requirements
- Literacy and numerical skills with a good knowledge of Microsoft applications
