Prisons are one of the most challenging yet rewarding places for Pharmacy professionals to work. At HMP Stoke Heath we are looking to expand our healthcare team and develop a new role for a Pharmacy assistant. A typical day will consist of:
- Accurately checking and receiving medication orders into stock
- Dealing with queries from Healthcare staff, Prison staff and patients
- Supporting the delivery of medicines to medication hatches on the prison wings.
- Working alongside pharmacist to ensure correct and secure storage of medicines

1. Deal with queries from patients and other healthcare professionals presenting in person or via the telephone or on the wing.
2. To assist pharmacy staff with clerical duties such as informing the correct community pharmacy on a patient release using the correct procedures using appropriate and secure software.
3. Maintain data collection systems, process data or produce reports, all of which require a great deal of concentration, attention to detail and accuracy.
4. May assist in the development of software / web pages / information reports or install / maintain hardware and software or assist in the review of datasets or provide training to members of the team.
5. Accurately check and receive orders into stock.
6. Visit allocated wings on a monthly basis maintaining accurate and up to date stocks lists and levels
