The role: We are seeking an experienced Contracts/Claims Manager who is fluent in both French as well as in English language to join our office in Paris, France. We are seeking individuals from a surveying, planning or project management background to strengthen our delay analysis and planning capacities to keep focusing on claims and arbitrations relating to high value delay and disruption issues. In the role of Contract/Claims manager you will assist the (project) management of our clients in the fields of contractual issues, contract administration and/or claims. The projects will be based in France as well as internationally. You will be working on projects in the Construction, Infrastructure (Road, Rail, Tunnels, etc.), Offshore, Oil & Gas and Process & Industrial industry. Your responsibilities, on project base, includes (among others): • Analysing contracts (R&O, risks allocation, key mechanisms) • Managing a contract during a project • Drafting of and/or responding to claims during and after the project • Assisting the client during contract negotiations, amendment negotiations etc. • Assisting and advising the client in the preparation of a lawsuit or an arbitration • Research, review, analyse and present documentation and data • Drafting coherent correspondence and/or narratives for submission to clients • Analysing compiling and summarising records in substantiation of claims/claim rebuttals. • Develop effective professional network opportunities by participating in construction / legal / industry related forums as appropriate and attend regular professional members meetings • Participate in business development activities/promoting Driver Trett’s business. • Attend internal workshops to broaden technical, business, commercial experience / lessons learned sessions Your home office will be in Paris, France, but given our international clientele you are willing to travel within France and other European countries as well as outside Europe. Key experience and knowledge: Essential: A minimum of 5 years construction industry experience as a construction planner or construction related engineer. A Construction or civil engineering degree or equivalent vocational qualification. Experience in developing and maintaining construction programs. Demonstrable knowledge of Primavera P6. Demonstrable understanding of the various principles of delay analysis Strong analytical skills and report writing skills Strategic insight to advise clients how to deal with and respond to several aspects arising from construction contracts, construction processes and claims Language skills: French and English, any additional language is a plus Demonstrable understanding of standard forms of contracts (such as NEC3 and FIDIC contracts) MS Office proficiency, with excellent Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills Presentable and articulate Desirable: Experience in preparation of delay claims, management of disputes and demonstrable ability in assessing the time impact of Compensation Events is preferred.
