Our client, a multi national market leader within their sector and globally recognised brand, are looking to recruit a Senior Accountant to join their team. The Operational Finance team are responsible for the wider banking requirements of the group’s 90 plus legal entities, ensuring short-term liquidity and medium to long-term working capital requirements are satisfied across the board. Secondly, the team assess the results of daily internal customer reconciliations and resolve variances to ensure no negative financial impact to our customers or to the business.

As a Senior Accountant you will be:
- Working in a Finance Department of 90
- Working within team of 6, reporting to and working closely with the Finance Manager

As the business grows both organically and through expansion across North and South America, you will have opportunities to lead projects to support the implementation of new systems/processes, liaise with various internal and external stakeholders, mentor and provide direction to staff, and support the Finance Manager/Controller with management/strategic decisions.
As a Senior Accountant, your key duties will include:
Cash Management & Banking:
- Support the Finance Manager with overall responsibility of banking requirements for more than 70 legal entities’ bank accounts, covering 400+ individual bank accounts under 20 banking relationships in 12 different countries (currently)
- Manage the development of a by-entity cash forecasting model to aid with maintaining working capital balances across the Group
- Perform regular bank due diligence on published accounts for existing banking providers with whom our clients holds significant deposits, along with due diligence on prospective new banking providers as and when requested
- Responsible for striking an efficient balance on cash reserves across the Group: from satisfying short-term liquidity needs, identify entities with immediate working capital requirements, and maximising interest returns at all times
- Lead the development of a model to detect foreign exchange risk across the Group
- Oversee our intercompany payments process on a 4 weekly basis, consisting of 100 plus intra-group transfers, followed by an intercompany loan review to ensure reliable balance sheet positions.
- Support the operational set up of new banks as business needs expand
- Coordinate a small project team and liaise with various stakeholders to implement a Cash Management System
- Oversee payments for non-centralised payroll in a number of jurisdictions, including direct payments of salaries to staff and payroll taxes to authorities
- Manage the formation of a centralised payments team, including assessment of resource requirements, recruitment and training
Reconciliations & Reporting:
- Oversee the daily reconciliation of c800k plus customer credit/debit card transactions, working closely with our Customer Payments department and card acquirers to report and resolve discrepancies as appropriate.
- Lead the development of requests for new reconciliations in advance of a new card acquirer going live, or any territory-specific reconciliations resulting from business expansion.
- Report reconciliation and chargeback KPIs on a periodic basis, explaining reasons behind significant variances against prior periods/years.
- Represent the Finance function on other business projects relating to payments and reconciliations.
As a Senior Accountant, you will ideally possess the following skills, knowledge and characteristics:
- CIMA or ACCA – 2 plus years qualified
- Strong IT skills, especially Microsoft Excel
- Some experience leading and mentoring staff
- Experience with corporate banking beneficial
- Excellent work ethic and attention to detail
- Previous experience working in a fast-paced environment with high volumes of data
- Effective communicator in both a professional and social environment
- Flexible to adapt to a hybrid working approach whilst maintaining working standards
