Job Description
To advise, implement and create design solutions to meet the requirements of Dudley council in an effective and efficient manner, dealing with a varied and heavy workload, so as to ensure that income and performance targets are met.
To make a positive contribution to Communication and Public Affairs, Graphics Studio in particular the following:
- To be responsible for and to manage their own work, ensuring that the services provided are relevant, creative, innovative and delivered effectively and efficiently.
- To possess and maintain an update knowledge relating to print design, digital design and marketing, social media design and marketing, website design, video filming, editing and animation, and be committed to undertake a process of continuous learning and development.
- To contribute to the overall performance of the Section by assisting in the preparation, implementation and delivery of Graphic design for the council, LA schools, Academy schools, other authorities and outside agencies.
- To be responsible and manage the schools account through the Revolution system.
- To be responsible and manage the Catering Service Level Agreement, to provide marketing and design for the Schools catering Service.
- To be responsible for and actively contribute to the performance and income targets and outcomes of the Section and to meet personal targets in order to assist the Council in meeting its requirements to deliver the Community and Council Plans
- To be fully converse in the GDPR and Accessibility compliance of websites.
- To possess and maintain a thorough and up-to-date knowledge of appropriate software packages, design trends and best practice necessary for the performance of the Post holder, the team(s), the Section and the council as a whole.
- To undertake training and education, as identified in conjunction with the Section Manager, with a commitment to obtaining appropriate qualifications relevant to the post, and to further develop their knowledge and expertise as required.
- To make initial assessments and take design brief from clients and subsequently to make the necessary suggestions, referrals for further action as required.
- To respond appropriately to routine enquiries by e-mail, letter, and telephone or in person, relating to graphic design.
- To be a member of working groups and project teams, taking the lead as required, specifically in relation to multi-disciplinary project teams for major applications
- To participate in any marketing initiative and to actively promote the Section in a positive manner to assist in the maintenance and widening of market share in a competitive environment.
- To be flexible in approach to the work of the section and to be capable of leading new teams or task specific teams as required. To liaise with colleagues in other services and sections.
- To assist the Section Manager in the implementation of service and operational improvements, and transformation of the service.
- To ensure that the requirements of Directorate, Divisional and Section Codes of practice and procedures, the Council’s Standing Orders, financial regulations and emergency plan are complied with for all work under the post holder’s control.
- To undertake Health and Safety responsibilities as per Directorate/Divisional obligations laid down for Officers, and to undertake any training identified for Health and Safety purposes.
- To be a specialist and demonstrate expertise and be responsible for a specialist area of work as determined by the Section Manager, for the benefit of the Section, Division, Directorate and Council.
- To deal appropriately with potentially confrontational situations.
- To work outside normal hours if required.
- To deal with any work or undertake other duties as may be assigned to the Post holder from time to time by the Head of Communication and Public Affairs Team and Section Manager.
