Senior Project Manager - (Inside IR35)
Contract Term: 6 Months – with scope to extend
Contracting Authority: Ministry of Justice (MoJ)
Location: Hybrid – 2 days a week in either the Leeds or London office / Remote Working
As Senior Project Manager, they will lead a defined set of interdependent projects, including the associated business change activities and establish appropriate governance and assurance processes monitoring progress, monitoring risks and issues and ensuring the business readiness for change. The role requires professional expertise in the effective use of programme/project methodologies and techniques. They will be responsible for the overall integrity and coherence of the programme.
As a Senior Project Manager, your main responsibilities will be:
· Create and lead the project to deliver the agreed outcomes within time, cost, and quality constraints.
· Day to day management and leadership of the project and the project team. Provide effective leadership and management controls. Set project controls. Design the project structure and organisation appropriate to stage. Set appropriate delivery methodologies. Manage effective transition between project phases.
· Develop and draft the Business Case, with input from specialists as necessary.
· Develop the budget and track delivery within budget.
· Identify and manage stakeholder relationships and need for senior level support. Manage internal and external relationships as appropriate.
· Identify and monitor project risks and issues. Develop mitigating actions and escalate as appropriate. Identify and work with related projects to manage interdependencies.
· Governance – Support effective governance and decision making. Provide reporting and engage in mechanisms that hold you, as Project Manager, to account for delivery.
· Change Management – Ensure effective Change Management processes are in place to agree and document changes to deliverables as agreed with stakeholders.
Essential Skills
- A proven track record and experience in delivery of managing complex projects.
- Strong planning skills with significant experience of working in a major transformation project / programme, with a proven track record in delivering to time, cost and quality.
- A strong focus on delivery – ability to work alongside technical delivery teams, service managers and business change managers to drive delivery of project milestones.
- To provide direction and leadership in managing the implementation of high-profile projects within the Programme including defining project scope, planning, implementation and delivery
- Exceptional senior stakeholder engagement skills, including preparing reports at Director level.
- Recognised appropriate practitioner level project management qualification or working towards becoming a member of an appropriate project management
- Comfortable working to tight deadlines, using your initiative, working collaboratively and managing your own workload.
- A good communicator, both written and verbal, with the ability to develop and maintain strong customer relations and adapt your behaviour to different situations and people.
- Experience of using Microsoft office tools, including Microsoft Teams, Project, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint is highly desirable
- Previous construction/infrastructure experience (highly desirable)
- Prince2 and other equivalent project management qualification (desirable)
